Batman is a 1989 American superhero film directed by Tim Burton and produced by Jon Peters and Peter Guber, based on the DC Comics character of the same name.

The film starred Michael Keaton as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Jack Nicholson as The Joker/Jack Napier, and Kim Basinger as Vicki Vale.

While the LEGO Batman and DC video games are mostly based on that of the comics, the tone and feel are heavily inspired by this film. The games also feature music taken directly from the movie, and it's sequel Batman Returns.

  • The design of the 2006-08 Robin minifigure is based on the comics, however the design was originally intended for how Robin would appear in the movie, as at the time, he was planned to make an appearance, and the makers of the movie had asked various comic artist to design a look for Robin that would fit the film. Robin never made an appearance in the film however. The new suit was also made for Tim Drake, who was introduced the same year and was named after director Tim Burton.
  • This was the first in the Batman Anthology series, which consists of this film, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin.
